Communications From Your President

6/30/2022

Hello MIEA Members,

I hope you have enjoyed some of the summer sun that has finally come our way. I have emailed you at your personal email address about some training opportunities from WEA, bargaining updates and some reminders/forms.

Additionally, I want to remind certificated staff to turn in your MAPL hours by Aug. 10th if you have not done so already. I have attached the MISD HR newsletter to this email as well. It has further information you might find helpful. (attached)

Lastly, our MIEA bargaining team is currently working on drafting and presenting proposals to the district this month and into August. This past two weeks we have been focused on writing and presenting proposals to address:

  • secondary counselors,
  • reducing impact of substitute situation,
  • supplemental contracts and opportunities,
  • custodian vacation flexibility and lanes of experience,
  • nurses working conditions,
  • overnight field trip compensation
  • mentor supplementals
  • classified communication time

Thank you for all the input and information you gave to us during the 1-to-1 interviews and on the survey, we have relied heavily on this and our ongoing conversations with members. Please expect further updates this summer this is only a small sample of what your MIEA team is working on for this bargain.

As always, if you have any questions about your working conditions, contract or other work-related issues, please do not hesitate to contact your building representative or me.

Stay well and informed!

Have a good summer.

Sincerely,

Sally
